The Miss America Organization Welcomes New Members to Board of Directors

Atlantic City, NJ (March 29, 2017) –  The Miss America Organization is proud to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors: Miss America 1966 Deborah Bryant Berge and Mr. David Zinczenko.

“On behalf of our Board of Directors, I am proud to welcome these two exemplary people to our team,” said Lynn H. Weidner, Chairman of the Board. “We are looking forward to their many positive contributions as we move toward our one hundredth anniversary.”

Debbie Bryant Berge.jpgIn the fall of 1965, Debbie Bryant became the first Miss America to be selected from the State of Kansas. After her year of service, she returned to school and was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from the University of Kansas with a degree in English. A popular emcee at state and local competitions, she also served as television commentator for the Miss America Competition in 1969 and 1970.

In 1975, she married Brent Berge and moved to Arizona where she continued her public relations career as spokesperson for their auto dealerships. In recent years, she has pursued a career in residential and commercial interior design while supporting charitable endeavors with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Phoenix Art Museum. Brent and Debbie are blessed with five children and eight grandchildren.

With more than 10 million books in print, Dave’s books include the Eat This, Not That! series, the Zero Belly Diet series, and his latest bestseller, Zero Sugar Diet. Dave also spearheads the Random House lifestyle books imprint, Zinc Ink., and is the Nutrition and Wellness Editor for ABC News across all their platforms. He is a regular guest on “Good Morning America,” “Dr. Oz,” “The View,” and other top-rated television programming. Dave was formerly the General Manager for Rodale, Inc.’s Healthy Living Group, serving as Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Health magazine and Editorial Director of Women’s Health and Prevention magazines, and Rodale Books. Under his leadership, Men’s Health was named “The Most Influential Magazine Brand of the Last 25 Years” by Media Industry Newsletter.

In 2016, David unveiled the opening of the Zinczenko New Media Center at his alma mater, Moravian College. Beyond giving students a space to create, the Center supports the developing Media Studies program and allows students to gain hands-on experience creating audio, visual, digital, and print projects using the industry’s latest technology.

“Both Debbie and David fit the profile of a Miss America Organization Board Member; they have integrity, class, great relationships, and a passion for focusing on all things positive,” said Executive Chairman and CEO Sam Haskell, “and they are a welcome addition to our illustrious board!”

Rebecca King Dreman.jpgAfter serving over 10 years on the MAO Board, where she was instrumental in supporting our leadership in the restructuring of our beloved organization, Attorney and former Miss America Rebecca King Dreman is being elevated to Director Emeritus joining Donna Axum Whitworth! Rebecca has served as 1st Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, Chairman of the Judges Committee, Chairman of the State License Committee, and Chairman of the ByLaws Committee.
